Calling Ally Bank with a customer service concern or question is a simple process thanks to a streamlined automated system and efficient service reps. I wanted to open a savings account with Ally Bank and called customer service for assistance.
The automated system opens with a greeting informing customers that the call will be recorded followed by a menu that includes various options ranging from trades and transfers to portfolio and account questions. Callers can repeat the menu choices by pressing 8. I selected option 7 for other accounts since I didn't hear one listed specifically for savings.
After following the prompts for bank-related questions, I selected the 'new account' option for a savings account and was immediately transferred to an agent. I was asked to give basic personal information and told to state my request. I shared with the agent that I wanted to open a new savings account and he was more than happy to assist me while also sharing that this process is fairly easy to complete online or over the phone.
He directed me to Ally Bank's website where I could read the specific information I would need to open an account, including my social security number, address and birth date along with creating an Ally Bank account. This would allow me to log in for online banking. I decided to follow the online prompts while on the phone with him as he explained the savings benefits such as no monthly fees, high-yield savings rates and no minimum deposits.
The process was seamless and took less than 15 minutes thanks to an agent who was more than helpful to assist and direct me with opening the account. Once complete, the call ended as the agent directed me to a quick survey.
