Calling Whirlpool isn’t the worst experience, but it should be noted that this line is only for water heater technical support. I luckily had an issue with my water heater, but I thought it was a general Whirlpool line, and it isn’t, so if you are having an issue with your fridge or any other device, you will want to find a different line to call. That said, getting to an agent was a very quick process, and I would call again if I had another issue.
Usually, there are many reasons people would call Whirlpool, but in the case of this phone number, the only real reason you would be calling is if you had an issue with your water heater. Therefore, it’s reasonable that the line wouldn’t have the same wait time. Having a dedicated line for one specific type of problem is a great way to streamline service options. It makes me wonder if they do this for other issues because it is a great idea to make sure you offer excellent support.
The one thing that I would recommend is to have your serial number available when you make the phone call. It never occurred to me to have the number, and my water heater is buried in the basement, and the number is kind of to the back of the wall and hard to access. While I was able to skip inputting it to talk to the agent, eventually, I did need to go down to my basement and get it so that the agent could help me with my issue and check the warranty. This was a pain in the butt to handle while on the phone and something I would definitely take care of before I called if I needed more help.
All of that said, the actual phone call was easy, and it only took me a minute to get a customer representative. When I called, it answered with, “Thank you for calling water heater technical support. Please speak the serial number of the unit you are calling about. Please say each number and letter separately.” I said I didn’t have it, and the response of the robot was, “I’m sorry, I didn't understand that. Let’s try this one more time. Please say each number and letter separately.” I said I didn’t have it again, and it immediately transferred me to a hold line and offered me a handy callback option so I didn’t have to stay on hold. As I said, it's pretty streamlined and easy to use.
